Wrexham hope Moore blow will not hit transfer plan

Phil Parkinson hopes Kieffer Moore's ankle injury will not be serious enough to affect Wrexham's transfer striker Moore was forced off on debut after damaging ligaments during Wrexham's Championship defeat at Southampton on the moment, Wrexham remain hopeful that Moore's problem will not mean a long lay-off."He is going to have a scan on his ankle so we won't know the extent of that for a couple of days," said Wrexham boss Parkinson."We have just got to keep our fingers crossed with it."Moore, 33, joined Wrexham from Sheffield United last week in a deal worth a reported £2m. The north Wales club have brought in fellow forwards Ryan Hardie and Josh Windass this summer, with January signings Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez also on the books alongside Jack Marriott and Ollie are also chasing Ipswich Town's Wales international Nathan Broadhead, with fingers crossed that the Moore setback will not mean there has to be a change of approach in what remains of the summer transfer window. "We know which areas we want to add to the squad," he said."Obviously if the scan comes back and it's really bad, there might be a slight change of thought process."But in the main we are sticking to how we set out in the summer in terms of how we want the squad to be."Targetman Moore's injury was all the more disappointing because he had produced an influential display on Wrexham's return to the second tier, the former Cardiff City player winning the penalty which had the Red Dragons on course for victory until Southampton's dramatic late comeback."I thought he was excellent," Parkinson added."He was a bit low on his minutes going into the game, but I thought his all-round performance was very good."He got the penalty, he was a real handful, his hold-up play was good. We have just got to hope he is OK."

Real Madrid midfielder ruled out for ten days due to ankle sprain

Real Madrid suffered a major setback today as Eduardo Camavinga was reported to have sustained the ankle injury he had picked up last season. The midfielder has endured a difficult summer so far and has missed multiple training sessions, including Sunday's training. This was followed by widespread reports of him sustaining an ankle injury, which is certain to rule him out of the upcoming friendly against WSG Tirol in Austria. There are even fears that Camavinga will not be match-ready for Real Madrid's season opener against Osasuna later this month. Camavinga ruled out for ten days Journalist Arancha Rodriguez has now offered a fresh update on Camavinga's fitness, even giving a potential time horizon for the midfielder's return. As per Arancha, the Frenchman has been ruled out for ten days owing to an ankle sprain, meaning he will certainly miss the friendly against Tirol. Will Camavinga return to action before Real Madrid's league opener? (Photo by) As for the opening match against Osasuna, Real Madrid are slated to take on the Pamplona outfit on August 19, which nine days from home. Considering one or two day of buffer period, it will be surprising to see Camavinga return to full fitness by August 22. Therefore, there is a chance that the midfielder may indeed miss out on Real Madrid's opener against Osasuna. Camavinga, though, is expected to be in contention to feature against Oviedo in the second match on August 24. It must also be noted that Camavinga may return earlier than expected. But given his poor injury record over the past 12 months, Real Madrid are unlikely to take any unnecessary risks. Who could feature against Osasuna, however, is new signing Franco Mastantuono, with Xabi Alonso reportedly considering giving the Argentine his debut in the league opener.

Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga sustains ankle injury, could miss start of La Liga season

Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is facing a race against time to be fit for the start of the La Liga season after sustaining an ankle injury. The 22-year-old missed multiple training sessions, including one on Sunday morning, and is a doubt for the team's last pre-season friendly with Austrian side Tirol on Tuesday. The scale of the ankle issue is currently unclear, though it is an injury which typically takes a period of weeks from which to make a full recovery. Advertisement Camavinga missed the final six matches of Madrid's 2024-25 season — including the Copa del Rey final — with a left abductor tear he suffered in the club's 1-0 win over Getafe, and did not recover in time to feature for the subsequent Club World Cup. The France international made 35 appearances for Madrid in all competitions last season in an injury-disrupted campaign which saw him sidelined on four separate occasions. Camavinga was sidelined for around seven weeks at the beginning of the season after he sprained a ligament in his left knee. He also missed over two weeks of action between November and December after picking up a hamstring injury in the Champions League defeat to Liverpool. Another hamstring issue ruled Camavinga out for three weeks between January and February. Madrid beat off competition from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain to sign Camavinga in 2021. The midfielder has since made 180 appearances for the Spanish club, and has helped them claim two La Liga titles, two Champions League trophies while also twice winning the Supercopa. Xabi Alonso's side face Tirol on Tuesday before their La Liga campaign gets underway on August 19 at home to Osasuna. In July, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and La Liga denied a request submitted by Madrid to postpone their first game of the season following their involvement in the latter stages of the Club World Cup, in which they were defeated 4-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final. An ankle injury has ruled one Manchester City player out of today's friendly against Palermo

One player who was left out of the Manchester City travelling squad for their friendly against Palermo was Phil Foden. Eyebrows were raised when Foden wasn't included in City's squad. It has now been revealed by Pep Guardiola that the England international has picked up an ankle injury. It is hoped that Foden will be available to play in Manchester City's opening Premier League fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux next weekend. Phil Foden has sustained an ankle injury. Speaking ahead of Manchester City's clash with Palermo, Pep Guardiola revealed that Phil Foden has sustained an ankle injury. When asked why Foden wasn't included in Manchester City's travelling squad for today's match, he said: 'Phil was doing good but he had a problem with a knock on his ankle that's why as a precaution we did it.' The Manchester City manager was hopeful that Foden could play next weekend against Wolves. Guardiola said when asked if Foden could play next weekend: 'Phil, hopefully. It depends on the problem. But it's a long week so hopefully.' Manchester City will be hoping that Foden can play next weekend to kick-start his 25/26 season. Phil Foden does loom as an important player for Manchester City next season. If he can return to his best after a tough 24/25 season he could hold the keys to City's season. At his best Foden is one of the best players in the Premier League. The hope is that Foden can get back to that level as quickly as possible from a Manchester City point of view. On the fitness front, it is hoped that Foden can play next weekend against Wolverhampton Wanderers. A good performance against Wolves could kick-start Foden's 25/26 season. But he will have to overcome the ankle injury he has sustained. That will be the focus of attention next week to see if Foden will be ready to play on the opening day of the 25/26 season.
